"DROP ME OFF IN BROOKLYN"
THE 6th ANNUAL CENTRAL BROOKLYN JAZZ FESTIVAL
(MARCH 30 ~ APRIL 30, 2005)



The 6th Annual Festival is the culmination of planning by member venues and
individuals working together to showcase talent in Central Brooklyn and to present
it to New Yorkers and visitors to New York City. This year's festival theme is
"DROP ME OFF IN BROOKLYN"

The 6th Annual Festival will commence, as is the tradition, with the OPENING DAY
GALA at Sugarhill Restaurant Supper Club & Disco on Thursday, March 30, featuring
violinist Billy Bang (see below) and end on Saturday, April 30 at Janes United
Methodist Church with Ron Anderson and The Versatiles featuring Jann Parker.

The 6th festival features world class musicians and events such as; Barry Harris,
Reggie Workman, James Spaulding, Bob Cunningham, Jimmy Owens, a musical
tribute to Romare Bearden with Tulivu-Donna Cumberbatch, Bertha Hope, Jeff King,
Eric Frazier, Ahmed Abdullah, a Bebop Reunion with Benny Powell, Robert Glasper,
Ray Abrams Swing Dance Band, a conversation with Montreal Jazz Festival Founder
Roue Doudou Boicel, Drake Colley, Cliff Smalls, poetry, spoken word, fashion, dance
and a Youth Jazz Jamboree on Saturday, April 16 among other events.

During the month of April, Brooklyn will become an entertainment destination. Tell
your audiences why they should be Dropped off in Brooklyn.

Billy Bang plays an instrument more closely identified with a concert hall than a
Jazz club, but there is no mistaking his primary source of inspiration - JAZZ.
A free jazz that was prevalent in the lofts of downtown Manhattan where the
Avant-garde music of the day was housed. Billy Bang was an integral part of
that loft scene. Billy Bang was inspired by the music of John Coltrane and
Ornette Coleman, he is moved by THE MUSIC of the SPIRIT.

Visit Sistas' Place on Tuesday, April 5 to hear a panel discussion on,
Jazz: Music of the Spirit.

The CBJC, a voluntary, not for profit corporation is a collective of artists, individuals,
cultural organizations, faith-based institutions, entertainment venues, business and
community development organizations. CBJC develops events and promotes live
musical performances throughout Central Brooklyn that help to develop audiences
