Just reissued on CD, much to my happiness. I got my copy from British Amazon yesterday. With the weak dollar it cost me almost $25.00 but it's worth it.
I think this is Redman's strongest showing on disc with the possible exception of the Old & New Dreams records. Very strong backing by Charles Eubanks on piano (why is he so obscure?), Mark Helias on bass and the one and only Blackwell.

A very strong date. I saw this quartet (with Eddie Marshall instead of Blackwell) when this came out. What's happened to Charles Eubanks?
FWIW - Redman recorded a lot of strong sessions. The later "Live in London" with Matt Wilson is excellent too as is "Living On The Edge".
I take it that this isn't a US reissue.

Right, it's a European ECM.
They have also reissued "The Jewel in the Lotus" by Bennie Maupin (which order I'm still waiting for).

I believe he had "personal problems." He's still out there, and recording (http://www.cimprecords.com/artists/?artist=Charles+Eubanks).

The Struggle Continues is now in stock at various online stores in the United States, at "normal" prices.

I got the Jewel in the Lotus. Nice music, although I'm not happy that ECM got rid of the old cover and made the new cover into another retread of every other ECM cover out there.

I agree. I've been listening to a lot of Redman's output since I saw him live a year or two ago...this is probably my favorite. Kudos to ECM for getting this out there again.

Looks like I'm late to this one, but I just bought this today and it is phenomenal. I had never heard Redman before, so it was hard to resist the opportunity.
Eubanks was a surprise, as was Mark Helias.
Is Redman's other work this accessible?
Does anyone else think he may have influenced George Adams?

Is Redman's other work this accessible?I like Live in London quite a bit. You also might consider seeking out Matt Wilson's As Wave Follows Wave...Redman's playing on that is outstanding.

Agreed, including a killer version of 'Sweet Betsy From Pike'!

It is killer! In fact, I think it was you who turned me on to it in another Dewey thread.

Cool! And I learned about here from Erik Lund, back in the days when he was still young.:)

He's also on two tracks on Mark Helias' Split Image.

'As Wave Follows Wave' sounds like it should be a winner. Cecil Mcbee is an underappreciated master.
I'd still give up my first-born child, or at least my wife (yeah, let's make it my wife), to hear more of the group from 'The Struggle Continues.' Charles Eubanks might just be my favorite Eubanks after listening to this cd the past few days.
