Recently given a nice compilation treatment on ECM this Swiss quartet (who released 4 v interesting LPs on JAPO) holds a fond place in my heart (I think a few other veterans feel the same way).

Christy Doran's own website's 'Live' page lists a gig by the group in Paris on 31st January, their first since 1982 by my reckoning.

Good luck to anyone who is able to make it. Wonder if Zep-like murmurs of further outings "if we have a good time" will follow...

Just noticed your post SF, thanks for the heads up.

I have

"Kirikuki", OM, Japo/ECM
"Rautionaha", OM, Japo/ECM
"OM with Dom Um Romao", OM, Japo/ECM
"Cerberus", OM, Japo/ECM
"Corporate Art", Doran/Helias/Previte/Thomas, JMT 849 155
"Half a Lifetime", Fredy Studer/Christy Doran, Unit Records UTR 4068 2 CD
and consider OM one of the best bands during fusion's golden age.

Does anyone know if ECM [or anyone else] plans to release those old recordings.

All the best,

Rick

You're probably aware of the 'Retrospective' compilation from 06 which is basically 'Cerberus' plus some choice tracks from the other 3 JAPOs (all remastered I think). It's a shame they didn't go the whole hog and reissue all four on a multi-disc set, cos there's good things in the rest of the material. Mind you, that might have diverted resources away from the (presumably-lucrative) remaster/reissue of the jarrett trio's 1983 sessions...
