Volunteered Illiteracy. Tres avant garde.

I refrained from ordering this, because opinions in the old forum were almost exclusively negative - even those expressed by die-hard eai supporters. As to the slowness - they say the music has been slowed down in a process of extensive editing.

There's a review of the disc here (http://www.info.net.nz/opprobrium/html/online/2/reviews/e2_reviewsD.html). It's fairly respectful but unenthusiastic on the whole.

I am amazed that you call stuff like the following respectful, Nate. But maybe you're right it does sound a little better than a simple "This stuff sux":
Dachte Musik take the strain of new music-influenced non-interactive electroacoustic improvisation to've recently emerged from certain areas of Europe (the land of Austria in particular), extend it past any logical length, and painstakingly drain it of any residual musicality.

Well, I said "fairly respectful"--it's not a pan, though it's skeptical in cast. The final verdict is the equivocal sentence: "It is fascinating, if a bit reductive, and can only beg the question: where to from here?"
No, I can't say I'm very interested in hearing it myself.

can you post a link to the discussion of this disk on the old site. can anyone tel me how prevalent sounding the editing manipulation is. i think they just slowed down the tape speed. do the instruments sound all warped?

Can't remember the thread(s) exactly, could have been the "EGO" eai threads, but they can't be accessed at present, anyway (shortly, as Lois says).
