In todays Guardian web site there's a live review by James Griffiths of what he calls a British supergroup named Spin Marvel, headed by drummer Martin France with Django Bates, Iain Ballamy, guitarist John Parricelli and bassist Tim Harries, performing at Non-Political Club, Sheffield. "....they dazzled and perplexed the audience in equal measures, playing two sets of semi-improvisatory, genre-defying madness....this is a fabulously futuristic band whose heart and soul paradoxically seem to belong to a bygone age of musical experimentation."
Bates has always been one of my favourites, and Griffiths description of the group's music makes me want to hear them. I understand this is a new-born band, so probably they haven't released a CD yet. The review seems to indicate, however, that this will be a permanent group, available for festivals etc?
