Right now my favorite is Juju, but I'm also a big fan of Night Dreamer, the All Seeing Eye, and Adam's Apple. Oh, and Speak No Evil is good, too.

I've listed every Blue Note mentioned on allmusic.com. A couple of these are unknown to me.

"Adam's Apple" comes first follow by "Speak No Evil" & "Juju".
I've never heard "Moto Grosso Feio" & "Odyssey of Iska".
I'm not a big fan of "Super Nova" and I don't like much "Schizophrenia".
The rest his on the same level, excellent.

I'm very fond of Juju, so I picked it as my favorite. Juju was the first Shorter recording I purchased, and subsequently listened to on a daily basis for weeks on end. If you asked which I think is his best effort, I'd choose Speak No Evil.

I picked Night Dreamer since it is my favorite so far--however, I have not yet heard any of the below:

The Soothsayer
The Collector
Et Cetera
Super Nova
Moto Grosso Feio
Odyssey of Iska

These are the ones I know:

JUJU
NIGHT DREAMER
SPEAK NO EVIL
ETCETERA
SOOTHSAYER
THE ALL SEEING EYE
ADAM'S APPLE
SCHIZOPHRENIA
SUPER NOVA

The only one I didn't care for was Super Nova.

My favorites in my younger days were "Adam's Apple" and "Etcetera," but my vote was for "Speak No Evil." It belongs on a top 10 Blue Note list, Shorter's masterpiece.

I"ve worn out my vinyl version of "Super Nova." My favorite track is Dindi where Maria Booker breaks down. It's certainly not your typical Shorter record.

I don't read db anymore, but it's a travesty that he isn't in the HOF. It probably won't happen while he's still around.

It's a pretty tough field, but I put Juju slight ahead of the pack.

In order-

Juju
Speak No Evil
The All Seeing Eye
Night Dreamer
Adam's Apple

All I know, but like others I'm torn between Juju and Speak No Evil. Maybe compositionally speaking SNE has the edge, but for instant gratification and all out fun, Juju gets my vote. Like Stonemonkts, I played Juju a heck of a lot after purchasing it. I may give it a spin tonight.

I like 'em all, but I'll give a heads up to The Soothsayer, which is a personal favorite; unique for the presence of both McCoy and Tony in the rhythm section. I love all of the tunes and the playing-

I like all of Wayne Shorter's recordings on Blue Note.

I first heard Wayne Shorter with Miles on "Miles In the Sky", soon after the LP was first released. It wasn't long before "Miles Smiles" became a perennial favorite, and I began to check out Wayne's own sessions.

I heard some stuff from "Night Dreamer" one evening on KBCA and probably bought that record the next day. Next came "Speak No Evil", which remained my favorite Wayne Shorter's recording for years till "Etcetera" came out...

Most of my favorite Blakey recordings have Wayne Shorter in the band.

Yes, so consider this a write in for "Free For All."

Odyssey of Iska

I've since picked up The Soothsayer and it's another good one. The Collector and Et Cetera are the two I want next.

Night Dreamer is still my favorite, followed by a log jam for second place: Juju, Speak No Evil, Adam's Apple. Some of the best music I've ever heard.

I put in Odyssey of Iska just for fun... I was pretty sure nobody else would, including me, seeing as how I've never heard it. And I figured Juju or Speak No Evil would get plenty of votes.

Super Nova may be the most underrated Shorter record. I've played my vinyl copy dozens of times.

Adam's Apple was always a favorite to me.
As one might expect, followed by Juju, Speak No Evil and Night Dreamer.
I must admit I don't know half of the others though. :o

I'm also really into the Lee Morgan's Blue Note recordings with Wayne Shorter:
Procrastinator, Search for the New Land and The Young Lions (which is not Blue Note I think).

Off-topic, but what do folks think of 'Native Dancer'? I dig it, but I've heard comments that it's a precursor to smooth jazz or something like that. I don't agree, but I guess it's because of the soprano or the sweet, mellow melodies.

I sold my copy a while ago. Not sure if I'd refer to it as "smooth" but however you'd classify it, it wasn't my cup of tea at all.
