I've listened to a lot of his music, but only saw him in concert once, in N. Carolina after Go See The World came out. I've always admired his intensity and his focus.

I think Freddie had a little better technique than Lee and could fit into different situations better. However, I prefer Lee's 60's albums to Freddie's. And I always have a soft spot for Charles...

I haven't heard the Okka, but I too have liked the trio, which made his playing on "Dortmund" a little surprising. But, I still like the disc overall.

I agree - it's amazing how Nabatov puts his own stamp on Nichols' music while retaining enough of the essence of the compositions. I love Nabatov in general, and this is one of his strongest dates...
