WOW! I don't debate people's likes and dislikes, I believe that whatever floats one's boat is cool as long as it's thoughtfully considered and one is not just mindlessly sucking the tit of popular culture. BUT I had thought the Mighty Gadd was above reproach. Now I know differently.
Scott was kind enough to send me an mp3 of Once Upon a Time There Was an Ocean (I see that he just sent me another, but haven't heard it yet). Here was my impression that I shared with him:
On first listen, I’d say it’s interesting. His voice is nice, songwriting style seems in the mode of the last 20 years. It doesn’t seem like the song is dependent on the electronic touches, so that’s a good thing; it can stand on its own (and be performed effectively) as an acoustic composition. I didn’t think the harsher sounds complemented the tune, but overall the production didn’t detract.
