Bagatellen and my apologies to Derek Taylor

I deleted a thread that Derek started about Bagatellen. I thought it was another forum rather than a magazine. My mistake, and Derek feel free to start your posts again.

    Thanks Lois

Under Points of Interest, I see a link to the "O" board, but not a link to JC (or AAJ).
I am quite sure that's just an inentional oversight and can be easily fixed.

You're throwing a twig in Lois's direction so she won't trip over a log (or something like that). One can tell that you were a lawyer.

Why should Bagatellen link to JC if it's neglected or declined to do that so far? More fundamentally, what's the frickin' point of discussing another board on either board?

Either that link to JC's Speakeasy was added five minutes ago or I need to get my new prescription for glasses filled faster than I thought. I apologize if it's the latter.

That may or may not overcome Lois's objections to threads about Bagatellen on JC.

My hope is that it will.

Discussions about bagatellen in the future might be better placed in the Alley, so.

BTW, I posted in one of the former threads about Bagatellen. I advised Derek to e-mail Lois with his request that his extra, unwanted thread be removed, and I wrote that so far, Bagatellen seems like a class act to me.

However, facts is facts--Bagatellen isn't a print magazine, as Lois seems to think.

Blue, nowhere does Lois talk about a print magazine. Bags is certainly more like an online magazine than just a talk board.

    Uli--

Indeed, maybe Lois knows that Bagatellen is online, has seen it, and has made her decisions accordingly. In that case, I'll feel like an idiot. That's not my guess, but I could easily be wrong.

I would appreciate people not talking for me but instead sending a pm or an email. I've requested this before. I know what Bagatellen is and I should've called it more like a fanzine, but at first I thought it was a forum.

Thanks, Lois. My apologies for the confusion.

Actually it’s more of an online ‘zine’/blog combination. There’s a roster of “authors” who contribute content (articles, essays, cd reviews, interviews, etc.) and a comment function that allows interaction between readers (and authors) as to what’s published. It’s definitely not a BBS.

Uli’s right about the lprevious ack of a JC link- it was an unintended oversight. Marc Medwin, one of the Bagatellen authors, has rectified the slight.

As to the question: “what's the frickin' point of discussing another board on either board?” As I mentioned above, Bagatellen isn’t a “board" & its content has been mentioned/discussed at JC repeatedly since it's inception (see the current vitriolic trainwreck that transpired recently on the Eai 3.0 thread for one unfortunate example). I posted the poll because I wanted to get some feedback, that’s all.

What's it matter? There's always a back and forth of the same people from there to here or from here to other boards and back again. There's nothing at all new about that.

I apologize for my role in creating confusion, and I apologize for speaking . . . not for Lois, but to her and about her.

I probably shoulda stood in bed yesterday (instead of posting).

Gary and Sonic, what sometimes creeps me out is a sort of meta- mutual masturbation (or closed-circuit circle jerk) wherein lots of space on two online fora is devoted to discussing the goings-on at the other online forum. That's not the same thing as having posters at each forum hop between them, now, is it?

    I do apologize.

P.S.--When I looked up the plural of "forum," I found a war among the dictionaries.

Bagatellen is a different scene. I enjoy reading it, but it is a little bit intimidating, too.

BNer It is more rare than it seems to date, this discussion of other forum activity. There was a blow up recently as you probably know. But normally things are not like that.

I don't know that firsthand because I haven't followed the eai threads closely, but I believe you.

well, the recent dust-up has driven Joe Milazzo away from Bagatellen; see his comments at the site. A shame, as I liked Joe's writing as much as anyone who writes/posts there.

Gary, what crawled up your ass?

fwiw (not a hill of beans in the larger scheme), I'm with Uli as far as Milazzo's enduring reign.

Yeah, it's one thing to be hard-boiled, but if you boil an egg too long it gets rubbery.

As some of you know, Bagatellen is now being archived. It's still open for comments, but it's turned its

    lights out.
