Lovebirds spend Cape honeymoon caged up - in jail

Ask a marriage counselor the best way to keep a happy relationship while driving and the advice will likely be, ``Always say, `Let's go your way, dear.' ''
Unfortunately, that hadn't sunk in yet for Bonnie Tellone, 48, and Robert Fraser, 49, of Yonkers, N.Y., who were honeymooning on the Cape after their Saturday wedding and got into a public driving disagreement in the middle of Route 28, according to Dennis Police Capt. William Monahan.
``Officer Christine Hornby was on patrol at 12:52 a.m. Monday when she observed a car to the side of the road.''
When the officer stopped, Tellone, who was driving, asked for directions. Hornby gave directions and drove off.
``When the officer returned to the vehicle about 10 minutes later, she saw the female hanging out of the car and the male jump on the female. They both rolled out onto Route 28 punching each other,'' Monahan said.
The newlyweds, who were treated at the scene for minor injuries, were taken to the station where they were charged with assault and battery - of each other - and disorderly conduct.
They apparently had made up following the booking, however.
``They had an amorous reunion in the lobby of the police station, to the point where officers had to separate them again but in a different way,'' he said.
Lew Hoff, Tellone's boss at Yonkers' Bartizan Corp. for the past 19 years until she left to start her own catering business, called the incident ``very out of character'' for the new bride.
``She's just a very nice woman,'' he said. ``That sounds like the kind of thing that would happen after you've been married for a while.''
``Hopefully,'' Monahan said, ``the rest of their marriage will be better than their honeymoon.''

Never drive on your honeymoon! Take a boat, a plain, the train but not the car!
