It's only wacky in context, but I got it when I was 8 years old: A really fancy set of cuff links, from my Aunt. Nothin' gets a young boy's heart racing on Christmas Eve like tearing open a box to find a set of really nice cuff links....

I gave my brother-in-law, the Alzheimer's researcher, a sky-blue t-shirt with brown fuzzy lettering that says "Trust Me I'm a Doctor" and a baseball cap with a crocheted front that depicts a splendid duck hunting scene.
I gave my parents a collection of obituaries from The Times and a coffee-table book about the interior decor of the homes of the world's great dictators.
