Welcome!
Which bill are you remembering?
You may want to take this to the "ask the musicians" section, although someone in the know might very well get back to you here.

is it actually 'I'm confessin that i love you?' I doubt it though, the chart I have has words and it says its written by Daugherty. Does it start with 4 8th notes and then two quarters?

Yes, "I'm Confessin' (That I Love You)"! Monk recorded a few standards, you know --songs that he performed as instrumentals, often (always?) solo. This one appears on a couple of his solo albums.
See this AMG page (where you can hear soundclips). Scroll through the alphabetical list of performers of the tune until you see Monk's name.
I'm guessing that bill remembered wants a transcription of Monk's interpretation of the tune (or one of Monk's interpretations), but maybe he'd settle for any transcription of the tune.

hi bluenoter,
yes, ideally i would like to find monk's interpretation but if i have to settle for another , so be it.
i have a fake book with it, maybe one day when i have the time i'll transcribe it myself- there is a few monk books around (of which i have one) but none of them have this piece
thanks

I just a few minutes ago heard parts of Terri Gross interviewing Paul Motion and the conversation got around to his time with Bill Evans.
They usually put up a schedule of times around the country you can hear these from the archives at www.npr.org under "Fresh Air"
