How about a "Man from U.N.C.L.E." reunion show?
Robert Vaughn and David McCallum are both still alive.
McCallum is currently acting on "NCIS" the CBS foresenics tv drama and he looks great....like really great for a guy who is 73 damn years old.
Vaughn may or may not be active.
Leo G. Carroll is quite inactive.
None the less......
Why don't they have an UNCLE reunion?
I'd watch.

Vaughn is still active. Does a series of TV ads for personal injury lawyer Mark D. Salamone in the Boston area.
There was a Man From Uncle reunion TV movie a few years ago. I watched it - it was terrible.
Actually, I just looked it up on IMDB - it was 1983. Aren't these guys now a little old to be taken seriously (?) as government agents?

Maybe a bit too old, but some type of 'get together' would be nice.
Technically, McCallum is functioning as a government agent in NCIS.
You would not know to look at him that 40 years have gone by since UNCLE. I mean, you really have to look long and in close up to see any aging at all. That guy got a real break.
Glad to hear that Vaughn is still active.
They need to have reunion 'get togethers' for as many baby boomer era shows as possible....especially the good ones.

Vaughn is co-starring in the excellent BBC show "Hustle." It's on A&E in the states.

We are the only reality
Although I loved The Man From Uncle, I wonder what the plot-line for a Vaughan/McCallum reunion series would be? There are already a ton of series out there along the same lines, and I too wonder whether their being older now will be a disadvantage.
In the original series they were the young whippersnappers, butting against the established methods of tackling international spies.
Would they approach a new series as mentors to bumbling clones of themselves, much like the sequel to The Hustler, which featured Paul Newman mentoring Tom Cruise's character?
Both Vaughan and McCallum are surprisingly well-preserved and I think they still have the chops to carry a series, if the story is there and the character development is there. But, it would be embarrassing for them if it flopped.
So, I guess I wonder just sort of character evolution would take place to make Vaughan and McCallum credible.

how about a moratorium on reunion shows and movies based on old television. They generally suck.

Agreed, although I confess when they reunite the cast of a show I liked, like "LA Law" or "Cagney & Lacey", I can't help but watch, perhaps just out of curiosity. Invariably, I'm disappointed. Will I ever learn?
Actually, I think I just realized why they make these reunion movies. Suckers like me watch them!

I'd watch.
Leo G. Carroll is very inactive. He died 34 years ago. If he were alive today, he'd be 114 years old, but could probably still perform the duties of a federal bureaucrat.

I know. I was using my very dry sense of humor.
Reunion shows could be good if people bothered to take the time to do a good one, but it seems few epeople bother to realize what made the show tick in the first place.
An UNCLE 'reunion' show could work, just by realizing these gents are old timers now, so their derring-do would involve more rbain power and weaponery than sheer muscle.
Hey, THE ROGUES worked for several years.
Shoirt of a runion, it would be fun to just see the guys swapping stories and whatnot.
There used to be a FUGITIVE convention here in LA once a year where the cast memebers and crew and fans would get together. One of my customers at the time was Joe Campanella the chgaracter and he happened to be in 3 poivitol FUGE episodes, so I got him to attend a convention. He said he had a great time and saw people he had not seen since 1967.
I think stuff like this is more of wanting to see the people you used to watch again more than seeing some tv movie reuniting the cast.
Hey....I just take it for what it is worth......nostalgia wallow.

Oh, I don't know, John. I think that "The Colour Of Money" was an interesting follow-up to "The Hustler". I also think that Newman was every bit as good as he was in the original. His was the main role, with Cruise as the supporting role. Perhaps that wasn't the original intention. It seemed to be Cruise who was supposed to be the main character, but you can't put Newman in the shade.
Similarly, because McCallum and Vaughan are holding up very well, continuing to work, a show based on "The Man From Uncle" could work if it were done right. A TV series could indeed become a one-idea nostalgia wallow. But a really well-made feature film, period, could work.

I didn't see the HUSTLER sequel, so I have no commentary.
If the UNCLE men can come up with something good, good. If not, ok. I will settle for something lessthan good or just a panel show with theguys there.
As I recall, LGCarroll did get involved time to time with the action in UNCLE.
There are many ways a good writer could make RV and DM function with little compromise in a reunion show. Most productions simply take the hack/easy way out in things like this, as if they had no respect for the original matrial or were not familiar with it.
Example - the tv revival of THE FUGITIVE. Totally botched series b/c the people writing it and producing it near totally ignored what had made it so popular in the first place. The original series ran for 4 years, the movie with Harrison Ford was a fine effort and drew a big audience, so the re-make series was already pre-sold to the public. Even die-hard fans of the original show were happy at the series being revived with a new cast. BUT....all hope was lost as the new series got underway for the makers of it were clueless.
An UNCLE re-make could work just fine. If they want to hire me, I am at liberty. Just no crap about middle eastern terrorists for that is an easy/hack way out.
