It's George Gershwin's 114th birthday. Just how many songs are based on the chord progression or it's variations of this song?

She scats as though she were singing vocalese. Sometimes I think this is the true essence of "musical theatre."

Today's the 82nd anniversary of the first time someone recorded Body and Soul, which is the most covered Jazz standard in history.

And I had to post this, Miles Davis in a transitional phase between Bitches Brew and the second quintet. Enjoy!

You don't say, is there an algorithm that calculates these things?

Fwiw, she has obviously worked hard at her craft thus far but she has a long way to go (imho). If she could get away from the gimmicks and focus on playing as part of the group she might get somewhere. She had absolutely no feel on "lover come back", I could only get through the first 30 seconds or so.

If you want to hear a drummer playing musically and connected with the band, have a listen to this ... Alan Dawson in the drum chair, from a 1965 recording with Sonny Rollins, trading 4s.

    Nice, love the badass Sonny,

Here's another all-star group: Joe Henderson and Dave Holland with Al Foster in the drum chair (it's a 40 minute set on video, so you might want to settle in for this one)

Claude, here's the full version of that Sonny Rollins clip, with my man, the late Alan Dawson. Alan was my drum instructor eons ago.
