The riff-filled land
The Residents
Any fans here? I've never really sat down to listen to them, don't own any of their albums yet, but every once in a while I visit a prog-rock/rock-in-opposition friend or something and dig what I hear.
Any good places to start listening to them? I'm asking 'cause I did some research and they have a huge catalogue...

The Third Reich 'n Roll
Eskimo (this one is my favorite)
Animal Lover from 2004 is worth getting and broke a slump period. It's quite a disturbing listen however.
They aren't exactly pleasurable listening. They are amusing and disturbing in equal measure.

Oh, apparently God In Three Persons is very good but I haven't heard it myself.

Finding nothing as usual.
I'm totally with JBW, Eskimo is the best, Third Reich 'n Roll is my next favorite. I'm also a big fan of the Mole Trilogy (Mark of the Mole, Tunes of Two Cities, Big Bubble), especially the live Mole Show. I didn't much care for their turn in the 80s, but I felt that in the 90s they had a nice trilogy with their multimedia efforts: Gingerbread Man, Freak Show and Bad Day on the Midway. Other things worth checking out are: Unavailable, The Commercial Album, Icky Flicks(DVD) and various oddities and singles and such from the 70s. See their official site for a complete discography.

Wow. Yeah, I was also interested in their multimedia projects, I saw a video excerpt a little while ago and liked its mood. I'll start with Eskimo and Third Reich 'n Roll then. Thanks JBW and Robert!

The Eskimo DVD, is pretty damn cool and worth checking out if you are into the multimedia aspect. The music though stands 100% on its own, so no worries if you are just checking it out via a friend or downloading.
and FWIW I never cared much for God in Three Persons though it is beloved by many.

I love all their recordings from the 70īs but think it has been all downhill after "The Mole Trilogy" (early 80īs). I donīt like "God In Three Persons" at all and I find their recent output to be totally uninteresting. They should have split twenty years ago!

QAMS2005
Duck Stab is a fine album. I enjoy listening to them from time to time, I have some friends who are really into them, but camp doesn't do much for me in music.

I pretty much agree with the above.
