Concerning cd recorder repairs.
I have a DENON W1500 with one output channel on the blink. Does anybody know of a good repairmen anywhere. Where I bought it they recommend replacing it, but it goes for about 600 bucks and I doubt if the repair bill will come to that amount. Besides, I like the thing. Does anybody know of anybody who can fix it??? I've been on the phone to Denon, but haven;t talked to anyone sensible there as yet.

Enjoy it - You only get 1
Sounds like a cold solder joint on the jack on the back of the unit. For me, it's a "do it yourself", but you should be able to find any stereo repair shop that'll look at it for a lot less than $600!
This sucks. I just ordered a Denon CDRW-1500!! This is the first negative I've ever heard about this recorder.

The Bluegrass
Doesn't have to be a stereo shop, even. Any electronic repair shop, tv or whatever, should be able to fix the problem for not very much. It's not rocket science.

Thank you Gary
I'm gonna try your theory out myself. Both channels sound fine thru the earphones, which means the trouble lies either in the final amp stage or as you suggested, the connection to the outside world. I'll let you know if I'm successful or not.
Since you're getting a Denon, it is a good unit, with perhaps the worst manual I've ever seen, written in as small a type as is possible.

I have the same unit Frank, I couldn't agree more.
It works exceptionally well , but after two years with it, I still am deciphering the manual!

I am glad to read that I am not the only one who has struggled with that manual. I find it to be a real challenge, and very frustrating. I have been trying to get through it for over two months now, without making much progress.
