'Sis;
No, this is the cat who was a regular with the amazing multi-instrumentalist Ira Sullivan for a time, and by the end of the 80's was a regular with Houston Person & Etta Jones which went well into the 90's.
Also quite a showstopper on a number of organ bands, McDuff, Dr. Lonnie and Lonnie Liston Smith, 'Papa' John and Joey D., Lou Donaldson's band [to this day] and others...this guy shreds!
The new CD is quite good: "Is It You"
-Xavier Davis/piano
-Duane Burno/bass
-Gene Jackson/drums

Hi Robin;
It's kind of you to ask...thanks for your support.
If you don't mind my asking, where are you located?
No transcripts.
Some stations archive although we don't currently [although I can find out if that's possible]
On occasion I've taped a copy for an interested listener...if there's someone scheduled that's a favorite of yours, perhaps we can work that out.OK?

Thank you...
I don't know what to say...it's an honor to be involved with a community of amazingly talented people on an ongoing basis, and a blessing to have a forum to put them, even briefly, on the pedestal they so richly deserve!

And it is definately an honor to work with Mike at KSJS. He was one of the folks who convinced me to come back and volunteer at my alma mater college radio station. In fact, a month after coming back to KSJS, I ended up getting a regular on air shift (Tuesdays 10AM-2PM Pacific time).

I forgot to mention that the feature hour for Randy starts 8AM Pacific/11AM Eastern instead of the normal start time...just this week

Rare change in interview start time from the norm tomorrow 03/13/05:
Randy Johnston 8AM Pacific/11AM Eastern
Usually, because of the artist feature taking the final hour of the program, we speak to the guest and play as many tracks from the new CD as can be fit into that hour.
Tomorrow, since the conclusion of the gueat feature rolls into the final hour of the broadcast, you'll get to hear Randy's new High Note CD in it's entirety!

Dave Holland this morning!
Dave mentioned that the new Big Band CD "Overtime" is available on i-tunes...also there's a live recording [1 track] of the quintet that is only available on i-tunes that's not off another album...
