How's the extra material. I love the original album.
Very strong. While there are a couple of alternate takes/different versions of songs on the original album, Disc 2 is essentially a unique, cohesive album unto itself that is nearly as good. It can fairly be said that Fisherman's Blues is now TWO of the best albums the Waterboys ever did.
I owned the original, and think it's completely worthwhile to get this edition.
I love it. Would've sounded better as an NRBQ album as having a Spampinato or two on the mic would have greatly improved the vocal quality. Nevertheless, there is always something worthwhile and fun in any music that Terry Adams makes.
At a library book sale, I found a section of LPs being sold for a dime apiece. I picked up:
Man of La Mancha original cast (Kiley) (Kapp) Andy Williams Greatest Hits (original Columbia 1970 in mint condition)
Van Cliburn, Tchaikovsky Cto 1 (original RCA Victor w/Kondrashin)
Van Cliburn, Rachmaninoff Cto 3 (original RCA Victor w/Kondrashin)
Tommy Makem/Liam Clancy, The Makem & Clancy Concert (2 LPs, Shanachie)

Well, I just got Son Volt's brand new release, Honky Tonk, yesterday. Back to the old school Bakersfield sound this time around. And fantastically executed. Down The Highway is one of the best tunes Farrar and company have ever put together.

I don't know if it's like it was around here, but I'd hate to start a new thread only to have someone ripping into me because there's already a thread from 1999 on the same topic.
Why did I have to see this thread on the very morning that I bought Herb Alpert and TJ Brass "Whipped Cream and Other Delights" for Rosario's brother as a gag?
I don't buy many albums anymore. But I did buy this one, for just one song, even. I heard "Still Not Home" on the radio and went straight into impulse-buy mode.
wow - music discussion on jazz corner - excellent to see
Pere Ubu: Lady from Shanghai - need to hear someone I know who likes it to tell me so I can give it another shot as the first listen was fucking brutal
I'm assuming a downloaded album I purchased count as "an album I bought."
Not sure if it was Gary Clark Jr's "Black and Blu" or Steve Cropper and Felix Cavaliere's "Nudge it up a Notch" I tried last week to purchase a Billy Harper album, but had trouble and gave up on it temporarily.

After reading the The indefatigable Charles Lloyd thread I figured I should finally get some of his music for my collection and I picked up a couple via download:
Then I noticed that a small box was coming out in April and thought I may as well add that on as a pre-order.

Back before I was exposed to any"out music" and apparently had no understanding of it, Charles Lloyd's group played a concert for my college's Parents' Weekend my freshman or sophomore year (spring of '72 or '73). I remember at the time being certain that it was fraudulent and it sounded to me like or 5 musicians simultaneously tuning up for an hour and a half without listening to or interacting with each other.

After being mightily impressed by a concert performance, In The Footsteps of Django, we picked up this recording, which is remarkable and fascinating in its unique musical directions and connections. No, Lulo does not attempt to replicate or imitate Django in any way, despite the familial ties.

Arrived in the mail today, won on eBay. This is a Man offshoot, an album I already own on vinyl and CD, but I bought this copy because it had the original sticker on it noting that the record featured Gentle Giant drummer John Weathers. My original vinyl copy had the sticker but over the years I lost it and always wanted another one.
