Bird Lives!

I scream at you for sharing
'n I curse you just for caring
I hate the clothes you're wearing, they're so pretty
'n I tell to not to see me
'n I tell you not to feel me
'n I make your life a drag, it's such a pity
'n I watch your warm glow palin'
'n I watch your sparkle fadin'
As you realise you're failin', cos you're so good
Now I don't mean to upset you
But there's so much crime to get through
If only I could make it easier, then I would
Oh I wish I was your mother
I wish I'd been your father
'n then I would have seen you
Would have been you as a child

I danced on your face, it seemed the best place for acting the fool.

I really didn't like this album very much ever since I got it.
But for some reason I broke it out last weekend and have been hooked on it ever since.

Those are only the greatest recordings I own.
I actually met Fred about 5 years ago when I lived in the East Bay and would drive through Kensington everyday. Such a nice man, he paid for those extensive state-of-the-art remasters (by engineer Maggi Payne) out of his own pocket.

That one's a classic. I saw Utah a few years ago at the Philly Folk Festival. He introduced himself by saying, "You folks don't know how really glad I am to be here tonight. At my age, I'm just glad to be anywhere!"

Furtwangler's Bruckner recordings on M&A are also outstanding, especially the wartime 9th, 10/7/44 and 8th, 10/17/44

"Berlin. October 7, 1944. In the Beethovensaal a concert is about to begin, but the theater is empty, relieved of its usual audience studded with Nazi elite seeking a brief cultured respite from the stresses of war. The Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra is on stage, awaiting its cue. Conductor Wilhelm Furtwängler stands awkwardly on the podium. The vague meandering of his baton summons the first shadowy note of Bruckner's Ninth Symphony. A Radio Berlin engineer starts his Magnetophon. The most extraordinary orchestral recording of the century has just begun. . . . . . . . . ."

ahhh....I dont know any of those people... but Im listening to a group from the 80's called HENRY COW...they are amazing...I suggest "Legends" and "Western Culture"...huge chunks of Ives, Stravinsky, Bartok and Pendereski mixed with strange rock.

Bird Lives!

In the quiet silent seconds I turned off the light switch
And I came down to meet you in the half light the moon left
While a cluster of night jars sang some songs out of tune
A mantle of bright light shone down from a room
Come down in time I still hear her say
So clear in my ear like it was today
Come down in time was the message she gave
Come down in time and I'll meet you half way
Well I don't know if I should have heard her as yet
But a true love like hers is a hard love to get
And I've walked most all the way and I ain't heard her call
And I'm getting to thinking if she's coming at all
Come down in time I still hear her say
So clear in my ear like it was today
Come down in time was the message she gave
Come down in time and I'll meet you half way
There are women and women and some hold you tight
While some leave you counting the stars in the night

A sitting on a sofa playing games of chance
With your folded arms and history books you glance
Into the eyes of Madame George
And you think you found the bag
You're getting weaker and your knees begin to sag
In the corner playing dominoes in drag
The one and only Madame George
And then from outside the frosty window raps
She jumps up and says Lord have mercy I think it's the cops
And immediately drops everything she gots
Down into the street below
And you know you gotta go
On that train from Dublin up to Sandy Row
Throwing pennies at the bridges down below
And the rain, hail, sleet, and snow
Say goodbye to Madame George
Dry your eye for Madame George
Wonder why for Madame George

Rowe/Sachiko M/Nakamura/Yoshide - ErstLive 005 disc 1
The last 3 days have been challenging and rewarding , think that all three are right up there with Duos For Doris as among the best eai records I've heard - my bias towards Rowe/Tilbury(and AMM), inter alia, keeps Doris at the top of the list, at least for now - time may reveal otherwise

Went and saw Adrian Belew in a small club in Canberra the other night. Great show with Adrian doing the power trio thing and very well too. He played quite a few King Crimson songs mostly from Discipline which is may favorite KC studio album post Red. Adrian came out and chatted with us afterwards - he's a very friendly guy.
Also been listening to this...

...and it is very good too.

Hi TJ,
King Crimson are still touring and releasing albums. However, they are inbetween activities at the moment. Fripp and Eno recently released another album, "The Equatorial Stars" which I haven't heard so can't really comment except I know it received mixed reviews, though AMG gave it a good review. Fripp also contributed to one track on Belew's new release "Side Three".

I guess Fripp's most significant solo work would be in the "Soundscapes" series and his last one from '05 is a live outing "Love Cannot Bear"-

I haven't heard this one but only have "The Gates of Paradise" which is excellent and quite dissonant in places.
