According to Larry Brooks, the salary cap is rising to $52 million. That means the max salary for one player is $10.4 million.
Hey, isn't this basically where we were at prior to the lockout? The level of payroll that small-market teams allegedly couldn't afford to pay? So aside from some revenue sharing and giving players much earlier free agency, what was the point of it?

Thanks for the nice words. It's strictly a function of the situation I grew up in: Neither my Dad nor, more importantly, my goofball buds were hockey fans. The DC area was *not* a hotbed of hockey activity. Balamer had the Clippers, who were pretty good but they only received spotty support, plus they were AHL. Some hockey fans from Bmore in the dorms got me interested in the Stanley Cup of 70 or 71 when the Bruins beat the Rangers in 7.
Cleveland is a terrible hockey city despite a few fanatics that supported the Barons, Crusaders (Gerry "Swiss Cheesy" Cheevers was way past his prime when he jumped to the WHA) and Lumberjacks (the Jacks had the neatest promotion at the Coliseum where a carload of people could get in for 5 bucks total). The Gunds owning the Cavs at the same time as the North Stars (or, as the local fanatics called them, the North Barons) effectively squelched any chance for the NHL to come here.
My most favorite recent team was Nag's Red Wings under Scotty with all those great skating Rooskies. And of course I hate the Habs, no matter how pathetic they've gotten.

Cap, I'd love to have you on this thread as well. One of these days we'll hook up in the 313 and I'll treat you to a Red Wings game. Then, after a few $9.75 beers, you can experience pissing in the Joe Louis Arena troughs and mock Mone for missing the opportunity when he was here.

I thought that was a dive but Neil doesn't dive. And he still looks hurt. Still, if they kill this penalty, I like it. They need to run Neil all night.

The Ducks didn't have a single shot on goal during that whole effing power play.

Yeah, hopefully this is shaping up as one of those games where the team that gets all the shots on goal can't buy one, while the other team barely throws anything at the goalie but they go in.

It's been pretty ragged thus far but the action is definitely hot. Plus I love to see the effing goalies get nailed.

I like the idea, but 4 on 3 is a tough penalty to kill.

Has there been bad blood between these guys for a while? This is starting to remind me of the Raidazz/Stoolers matchups of the 70s with only white people.

Nah, Cap. This is pretty much business as usual in the NHL, particularly in the NHL playoffs. Although the Pronger hit and some ensuing fisticuffs escalated things in game 3, so there's definitely some carryover.
