Great ideas - both Ehrlich and Hemphill. A Carla Bley set would be interesting, not knowing much about her music.
Also a Set or Select that would gather many of the less renowned followers of Tristano. A set that would focus on bringing together the scattered recordings of Sal Mosca, Ronnie Ball, Ted Brown, Billy Bauer etc.
The Complete Gigi Campi Clarke-Boland Band recordings;
The Complete Gary Burton RCA recordings (great idea! I have some of the cd editions and I hope for more and unedited material after I had in Japan the last, beautiful "Gary Burton Quartet In Concert", RCA 1968);
The Complete Carmen McRae Recordings on Mainstream (another GREAT idea);
The Complete George Russell Decca recordings (that G.R. Sextet In Chicago will be available, finally);
The Complete Tommy Flanagan Recordings on Enja;
A multi-chapter box set of Sun Ra Complete recordings (at last on Evidence)with notes by John F.Szwed.
Something that occurred to me while recently listening to the Blue Note reissue titled The United States of Mind (which is occasionally fabulous) is the music he made in the early Eighties on his own Silvetto label. I don't think I've ever actually heard any of it before but I do recall some pretty good reviews in the old jazz version of The Rolling Stone Record guide. Iirc, Spirtualizing The Senses got 5 stars. I don't think any of it has ever been reissued on CD so it would no doubt make a great box set.

These are some fine ideas! Especially the Clarke-Boland, Burton and Russell...
so, I can't reveal my source, and I don't know any more than I'm posting here, but after years and years of online boards asking for a Mosaic Arista Braxton set, I'm told one is now definitely coming. the contents aren't definitely set, it won't be complete, it will be seven CDs, and it's scheduled for November. that's all I know.

I heard this rumour too. It is fantastic news, if true. This set is at top of my list in the spirit of this thread.
If indeed Mosaic is doing the Braxton box, it will be further "out" than any previous that I can recall. A Cecil solo box would be well past that, in a commercial sense. I'm betting they only finally yielded with the Braxton idea because all the requests over the years indicated some sales that they probably don't anticipate for other non-mainstream releases. (I know also there were licensing issues, but I don't think that's the only reason it's taken this long.)

yeah, it's definitely a jump for them. also Cuscuna was the original producer of those, so it probably makes him more likely to do them as opposed to other out boxes. what will be interesting to see is how well it sells, whether all of the people over the years on forums like this who have said they wanted this really buy it once it's actually available.
that does seem a little quick if the precise specifics of what will be included haven't fully been decided yet. on the other hand, Cuscuna already produced this stuff once, so I guess we'll see.
How about the complete Don Ayler? It could include In Florence, the stuff from the Revenant box, and I am sure there are some other recordings around.
An Old And New Dreams box would also be really appreciated. Talking about underrated bands of the last 30 years or so, these guys have to be up there. I count five albums and I myself have eight hours of live stuff from various dates.
