    Not an opera but WGBH yesterday afternoon aired a recent Carnegie Hall performance by Simon Rattle and the Berlin Philharmonic of Mahler's Song for the Earth (Ben Heppner, tenor; Thomas Quasthoff, bass-baritone). Fortunately, my toddler was napping during it and I got to listen and savor it completely.

    Years ago I was fortunate to hear (see) Maria Callas sing Norma. Its something I'll never forget.

    I hope someday Renee Fleming decides to do the role.
