    Peter Cherches Book & CD-R

I have a bunch of copies of my short prose collection Condensed Book, which I acquired when the title was remaindered about 10 years ago. It was published in 1986 by Benzene Editions. Used copies are occasionally available from Amazon Marketplace sellers for $10 and up + P&H. I'm offering new copies for $12, P&H included to U.S. addresses, $15 to foreign addresses.

Here's the one reader review the book got when it was selling on Amazon:

The Strangest Thing on My Coffee Table, September 2, 2000
Reviewer: Brooks Ann Camper from Chapel Hill, NC
This book is unlike any other I have ever seen. A true original and totally hilarious. I picked it up off someone's coffee table at a party and read it cover to cover. It is so unlike any book that it is hard to describe. I stongly reccommend taking it for a test drive because no review can explain what it is actually like. The book itself has ten sections, each having its own style of story. Some sweet, some disgusting, some laugh-out-loud funnny. Most stories in the book are half a page long, but some are as short as two sentances. The longest story is five pages. In addition to the story sections there are sections that are set up like old standardized tests, a reading comprehension section and a problems section. They are totally ludicrous stories with multiple choice answers for you to choose at the end. Thoroghly confused yet? The author is a performance artist, writer, singer and kazooist from New York City, whose profound influence is the 30 second spot. "If less is more, then Condensed Book is the next best thing to no book at all".I strongly recommend this book. I ordered 5 so I would have back up gifts to share my unique find with friends.

I'm also offering a CD-R of music and performance pieces I recorded in the 80's. It's a no-frills affair--a CD-R in a soft plastic sleeve with a simple printed page with the following information:

    Peter Cherches

    It’s Uncle!

    1. It’s Uncle!
    2. Everything Reminds Me Of You
    3. Cherish
    4. Kennedy’s Brain
    5. These Things
    6. Love Me Like a Bitter Pill
    7. Will You Be Mine?
    8. The Fifth Of May
    9. When the Carlsons Become the McBrides
    10. Prehistoric Man
    11. F Troop
    12. Music Mouth
    13. Blue Monk
    14. Hackensack
    15. Disco Uncle

Personnel: Peter Cherches, vocals and kazoo; Elliott Sharp, bass, guitar, tenor saxophone, bass clarinet (1-11, 15); Lee Feldman, keyboards (2, 3, 6-9, 12); Kate O’Looney, Drums (1-11); Bobby Previte, drums (15); Phillip Johnston, alto saxophone (13-14); Wayne Horvitz, piano (13-14); Dave Hofstra, bass (13-14); Bob DeMeo, drums (13-14).

Recorded: 1983 or 1984 (Disco Uncle); 1985 (Tracks 1-11); 1986 or 1987 (Music Mouth); 1987 (Blue Monk, Hackensack).

Tracks 1-11 originally appeared on the cassette “Peter Cherches/Sonorexia: It’s Uncle!” in a different sequence.

“Music Mouth” was originally released as a flexi-disc insert to Between C & D magazine.

The three remaining tracks are unreleased demos.

All lyrics (except “Cherish”) by Peter Cherches.

    Compositions by: Cherches & Sharp (1, 4-6, 10, 15); Cherches (7); Feldman (2, 8, 9, 12); Thelonious Monk (13-14); Terry Kirkman (3); Unknown (11).

The CD alone is $7, P&H included U.S., $10 foreign, or an extra $4 if ordered with Condensed Book.

If you're interested, please PM me for my address, and I'll ship upon receipt of a check or money order.

    Thanks.

I love that crazy dude, but the only recordings I have with Joel are poor quality location cassettes.

Pete, I'm sold on the ebuilliance of that review, as soon as I have some more money. Let me know the next time you come by the Iridium, because I work there now, and you can bring one.

Brett, if you have Hearsay CD's for trade I'd be quite amenable to trading my book & disc for your CD.

I probably missed this thread the first time around. I am not really onto the classified section that much. Will PM ordering instructions shortly.
