What's really odd to me is when you go to the "who's online" screen and it tells you exactly what everyone's doing - which thread they're reading, if they're sending an email, etc. I'm not entirely sure what I think of that!

Other than that, thumbs up on the new format so far... it's fast, everything seems to work, Safari can read all the buttons... good stuff. I'll probably be around a lot more now.

Is it possible to post pictures from elsewhere other than the web - i.e. from one's pc?

I don't understand how similes could be prohibited.

Where is that? I know I stumbled upon it this morning but can't relocate it.

[Found it. Oddly, it currently lists on one else on-line. And when I visit a forum, I'm the only one there. Spooky!]

    Smilies suck.

You can post images using the "IMG" button in your posting features. I'm hoping Lois removes that as well.

Agreed. I go one further and suggest all emoticons suck. The word "emoticon" sucks.

    Similes can be cool though.

    IMG does not work ...

    do you want private messages?

Why? What's wrong with just sending an email?

do you want to be notified by email of new messages on threads

No. I get too much junk in my box already. I can see for myself if anyone has posted to a thread.

do you want to see how many people viewed a thread

Yes. I think that's an excellent feature.

what other forums do you want me to open?

All of the forums that were on the old bbs and two new ones: a.g. and eai.

Here I am, posting under my actual name for once. No specific comments on the site from me; I'm just glad that it works.

BTW, here's an image of me which maybe I'll add to my sig:

Lois, please report Uli's last message to yourself. It was uncalled for.

There are some people griping on the old board that the character name limit isn't long enough. We need our Jesus Marion Joseph!

Glad to be here. For months, I couldn't get the old Speakeasy to accept my posts.

Don't like the dark blue on the scroll bars - could it not be the two shades of grey that are used for posts - very easy on the eye.

If possible, it would be great if no-one could have a signature - biggest waste of bandwith ever invented - lots of wasted time, and no more xxxx, baby - it would just be the same thing all the time.

Only been on for 10 minutes. Seems pretty good. Private messaging makes sense, since people could avoid giving personal e-mail, and it saves problems with updating, as long as it doesn't invite trollish behaviour.

    Trading post forum sounds good.

Not a big fan of graphic smileys, but less annoying than auto-signatures, could get used to them maybe.

Seems good so far, pretty smooth running.

I have admin options on the bottom of my screen - could these be removed? It would be great to have an omnipresent "back to index button" on the screen somewhere, although I might find it yet. Like it so far.

Nathaniel, you can choose to not have people's signature's displayed. It's an option in your preferences. Ditto for avatars (although Lois has them turned off anyway).

BTW, am I the only one who's "View New Posts" button stopped working? That is one feature that I really need here!

    Later,
    Kevin

Kevin, my View New Posts button has also ceased working. A temporary thing, I hope.

BTW I agree with Catch, the signature things is clutter.

Thanks, switched them off. With the apparent amount of customisation, I don't forsee having any major complaints, although the message saying your message is being posted seems a bit unnecessary, and still don't like the dark blue.

Meanwhile, if you want to email folks and give them this url - we welcome them to come on in

    Lois,

Very good idea to give up the sluggish cfm forums and to use vbulletin!
