Albums others wouldn't guess you like
This is perhaps related to guilty pleasures, but here has an emphasis on one's conception of others' expectations.
List an album you like that you think might surprise others who know you (no penalty for being incorrect, though - everyone play nice). Any genre (jazz too).
A thread rule: one album per post, so people can pay attention to it. Lists get glossed over.
Supertramp - Breakfast In America

And I'm hearing this a lot since my daughters found it. But I don't mind as before that they were listening to phantom of the opera (not mine I hasten to add).

Best of luck on that one.

Yeah, I never really find myself cringing when I hear an Abba hit. That didn't stop me from disliking Mamma Mia, unfortunately, when my wife asked that I watch it with her.

Ha ha. I liked Control too. The Control track. I don’t remember the other one. And Supertramp. I don’t think old albums are particularly surprising since we were younger then but I do think it’s cool to revisit them. I liked Prince’s Batman track too. It’s goofy as hell but I liked it. And Thriller. Though listening to that album makes me think wistfully “whatever happened to the person that made this?” Where did he go?

Especially Waterfalls and If I Was Your Girlfriend. (Like Prince’s version too.)

The Bluegrass
I liked that Hole record. Haven't heard it for a long time.
Judy Collins -- Wildflowers. It's a long story.

Yeah, coming-of-age albums in general might not surprise anyone - brains latch onto those often merely because they're heard a lot at the right time.

Lotta good records on this thread. Here's a favorite of mine. Always in heavy rotation at Casa Esmitz:

Cuando estoy en el campo, mi vida cambia
mi casita de adobe, esa es mi estancia
oigo el canto del gallo anunciando
que hay viene a mi rancho
un bello y nuevo día
El amor se despierta,
la fe se levanta, la vida comienza
y todo en armonía!

What heart?!
Plenty of tunes I like, which may surprise. Whole albums, not so much.
Maybe, this one... Sean Colvin's Cover Girl:

So I have to guess what I think other people wouldn't guess about me? Random!
I'm guessing all albums as no one gives a monkey's about what I like or dislike.

Big Daddy - Whatever happened to the band of 1959 (1983)

On vinyl ......cheezy concept, 80's songs - 50's arrangements . Original mashup band. Just great. It rocks and has a sense of humour which is more than can be said for some of the crap i've bought.

Actually, this probably isn't out of character after all. He's such a charming, affecting singer.

Another one I go back to. I had a guy on the New York subway laugh his ass off when he saw its CD cover on the outside of my hip-pack.
Cheers,

They do the best version of Eye of The Tiger I've ever heard.
And they do this cool cover of Sgt. Pepper, studded with hip references to Billy Ward and The Dominoes, Dion, etc. Fine group!
