Wow. I got this CD from the library, but I am going to have to buy it for myself. It is wonderful: Ella's rich voice with nothing but a piano accompanying her. It shows a darker side of Ella, much different from her normal girlish verve and energy. Wow. (I liked it, can't ya tell? )
I like every single song, but "Misty," "September Song," and "Reach For Tomorrow" come to mind. Ella's versio of Misty is *MUCH* better than Sarah Vaughan's: Sarah's is overly dramatic and almost muzaky, she doesn't sound "misty" at all. Ella's version brings out what, I think, this song was meant to be.
I give it an A++!
