Any guesses or confirmations?

Given the very unique and consistent sound he encourages for ECM recordings, I'm curious as to what his reference kit is beyond the studio monitors. Never heard cymbals hang in the air like that before. You've got to figure he has an opinion at home when he sits back and takes in his own product,no?

I saw him interviewed recently next to a pair of PMC monitors, but assumed he was just sitting near a mixing board.

Anyone care to discuss?

A good friend of mine visited Manfred at home last year, and they went in the back yard to listen to the newest ECM's...this is a photo of the sound system he was using:

If Manfred were a member of JC he would discuss this kinda thing in the audiophile section, unless he would actually be using what Dennis wants to sell us as second hand news

Charlie Haden to Keith Jarrett to Herr Eicher....

FWIW Jazz bassist Charlie Haden apparently uses a Naim Audio 180 amp with his Naim Audio SBL's (speakers) and enjoys an eclectic mix of music with them.

I think you'll find Charlie has moved on from that system. I had heard he has a Naim CD555, NAC 552 preamp and NAP500 power amp. I think he might have Naim NBL speakers (but could be wrong on that)
