As usual, a nice lineup. Will try to catch some shows if nothing else at least trio 3.

Did you make it? I didn;t see you there but it was so packed I could easily have missed you. Trio 3 did one of the most incredible sets I've ever heard them play. I've heard them quite a few times and caught some good sets but this one was just filled with high energy, spirit and creativity. I don;t think they could have played with more intensity if they tried. I thought it was THAT good.

Agusti Fernandez played what was another stunner in a solo piano set on Wed. Beginning a 45 minute set with about 15 or 20 minutes inside the piano, starting with small sounds of plucked and scraped strings, gradually building into a loud rumble on the low end strings, to prepared sounds on the keys, eventually to some fleet forays in the free jazz tradition. Tremendous.

It was heartwarming to hear David S Ware continuing to sound very strong. After requiring a bit of effort to navigate the stage, David sat, conversed, and proceeded to mesmerize with about 20 minutes each on saxello and tenor sax, then taking 10 minutes or so to take questions and chat with the audience on Thursday at Elastic.

Frederik Ljungkvist, Joost Buis, Nate McBride and Mike Reed lit the stage afire prior to Trio set at Hideout. Alberto Braida and Eduardo Marraffa created a nice piano/sax disturbance on Wednesday at Cultural center. Carl Ludwig Hubsch's Longrun Development of the Universe delighted with creative spirit and humor.

many other fine sets. Unfortunately I couldn't stay for Sunday's set with Wadada Leo Smith and Gunter Sommer. But fortunately I DID hear the duo at this year's Vision Festival.

No, unfortunately something came inbetween at the last minute and I am still very disappointed. Glad you enjoyed it.
