Right below the youtube video is a series of buttons. Click on SHARE.
That will bring up a large URL to copy. Ignore that. Below that are buttons that read EMBED and E-MAIL THIS VIDEO. Click on EMBED.
That should bring up a window below it with a fairly lengthy bunch of code, framed by brackets like this: < >
Copy that whole thing and paste it into the window. Don't put it into a link or an image -- it's self-contained, paste it in and post it.

And Baksheesh has now pointed out an even easier way, Right Click on the video and click on 'Copy embed html,' and then paste in place.

Glad I could be of help Steve.
Learned it from Rita myself originally - she's a dab hand at this stuff of course. In fact I'm still trying to work out how to use the WYSWIYG guidelines she gave in another thread - it means you can do screenshots, or do 'whole posts captures' (i.e. catch all the quotes within the post you yourself are quoting).

Thanks, but I swear you didn't learn that from me. I don't do it, nor had it occurred to me.
When I embed a YouTube video, I exercise more of the available options---I choose screen size, privacy level, whether to display suggested additional videos, etc. (The embed code magically changes to accommodate one's choices.)

First, get in WYSIWYG mode:
User Control Panel Settings & Options Edit Options Miscellaneous Options Message Editor InterfaceIn the pulldown menu, choose "Enhanced Interface - Full WYSIWYG Editing"
At the bottom, click "Save Changes" Now go to the post (or part thereof) that you want to capture, aim your mouse (point your cursor) at the desired starting point, and s w e e p . Then Copy and Paste into your new post.
But I rarely do that to capture all desired quotes. Instead, I visit each post to be quoted and use the Multiquote feature (at the bottom right of every post). The last step is to click .
Using the WYSIWYG sweep method to capture webpages outside of JC (and then Copy and Paste into a JC post) can be very iffy. I suggest that you learn how to do a "proper" screenshot if you don't already know how. Details on request, or others can provide them.

Never occurred to me either because I use a flash blocker.

So you don't watch YouTube videos at all, or do you click to allow Flash for individual videos? I use a Flash blocker too, but I put YouTube (among other sites) on its Whitelist (to exempt YouTube from having Flash blocked).

Uber-thanks Rita! Y'got it going on!
(Although I'm darned if I can remember who here told me how to do it the easy way)
Now, I've gotta go forth from this place with your WYSIWYG directions and make 'em work...

I do. Even embedded a few of them on this site. I just click on what I want to watch.
For those others that might not know about flash blockers.
Both Chrome and Firefox have a add-on for it.
