Not sure if this event has passed but just wanted to add my support to the nomination and thanks to Manfred Eicher for his gigantic contribution to great music over the past 40 or so years. Khatia Buniatishvili and the others listed here are shining stars in the classical sky.

Are the latter two from the Indian subcontinent? If so, that's interesting, as one doesn't hear of too many classical musicians from that region. Or maybe that's just a gap in my awareness which should be remedied.
Q: 'How do you start free improvising?'
A: 'Well I usually start on D as a matter of fact'

"I wandered alone in the desert and cried "Oh Lord! Oh Lord! What hast thou done, lately?"

"Thought is not a saffron-robed monk pissing in the snow"

"Bitterness slowly crept into the marriage and by the time Lovborg was six years old his parents exchanged gunfire daily"
