    Masada

Interesting discussion and resources for John Zorn's Masada project here.
Q: 'How do you start free improvising?'
A: 'Well I usually start on D as a matter of fact'

"Thought is not a saffron-robed monk pissing in the snow"

"Bitterness slowly crept into the marriage and by the time Lovborg was six years old his parents exchanged gunfire daily"

Interesting find, baksheesh. Thank you for passing it along.

I find it odd he reviewed all the studio releases and only three of the live releases. He reviews Taipei which is possibly the weakest of the live dates but not Sevilla which is possibly the best.

He either has not posted those yet or is in store for some really fine music in his near future.

He's missing a lot, including Electric Masada and Masada Guitars, but it's still an interesting page. And the home page, for Zorn, looks like a good resource, too.

The Taipei date wasn't weak if you were there! I have been told that several tunes from the recording were ruined by some nut talking to the (at the time unknown) taper. Well, talking and whoopin' & hollerin'. Yeah, that nut was me. I had no idea it was being taped. lol
