Looking for Info on NYC club
I'm trying to remember the name of a club that was on either west 70th or 71st st in nyc in the 70's and 80's. It was first a cabaret then a jazz club. between broadway and west end anyone remember?

Reevaluating @ 500k
Sweetwater's? Ashford & Simpson had a club on the UWS. I think Mikel's (sp) was in the W. 80s.

I don't think that's the right place. I also remember a club on the UWS. don't think it was down as far as 71st, but definitely not up as far as 95th. I remember hearing some old friends from Chicago playing there, and also Norman Simmons (my big bro).

Aw shucks I was hoping to be useful. I used to go to Cleo's on Sundays once upon a time for their open mike. Tessa Souter was there every week. I guess this club was a lot closer to Lincoln Center. It wasn't that one that moved to Time Square was it? Can't remember the name of that one either. Actually that one was almost directly across the street from Lincoln Center, on like 64th.

Are you sure it wasn't on the East side?
Maybe Catch a Rising Star?

J's? That's about as simple as you can get, and it was on Broadway, somewhere in that neighborhood........

There was a place called Paulson's near Broadway & 72nd in the late 70s/early 80s. I remember seeing Chico Freeman there regularly with Cecil McBee and Billy Hart. The place was at least half empty most of the time, which is why it didn't last long, I guess.

This may not be the one you're talking about, but isn't the Iridium a jazz club in that neighborhood? Like around 72nd and Broadway or something?
Oops - never mind - I just looked it up. It's more like 51st and Broadway.

I think the Iridium Jazz Club was originally located near Lincoln Center. Or maybe O'Neals on West 64th (65th), but it's closed now.
