Old jazz mags to give away
(I'm cross-posting from the Jazz News thread, apologies if that's not kosher but I thought it'd be relevant in both places.)
I work at a music school in New York and have just gone through a small archive of jazz magazines that we're getting rid of.
They are mostly Jazz Times, with a stack of the National Association of Jazz Educators magazine, some of something called Radio Free Jazz (which may have been associated with the Smithsonian at some point?), and a smattering of other things. The Jazz Times and NAJE magazine are from the 80s into the early 90s, and most of the other stuff seems to be from the 70s into the 80s.
Some of the material will definitely seem dated, but the magazines could be a good resource for someone interested in history of the music and of the jazz journalism that covered it.
Since most of these (other than the NAJE) were newsprint magazines, their condition shows their age - the paper is noticeably yellowed and brittle. However, they're still complete and not worn too much other than some wear on the edges and corners.
We will give these away, but please contact me ASAP about them, since we need to clear space. They'd need to be picked up by this Thursday, and we may get rid of them sooner if we don't get any nibbles. Please email me if interested and we'll work something out. Thanks!
