Later this month, composer-bandleader Darcy James Argue will be the Residência Artística with the Big Band Palácio das Artes at Savassi Festival 2012 in Belo Horizonte, Brazil.

On Sunday, July 29th at 7:15 p.m., Argue will conduct the 26-piece ensemble in a program of original music featuring selections from his GRAMMY nominated debut, Infernal Machines (New Amsterdam Records), as well as newer material. He will then join the group in the studio over the next two days to document their collaboration.

A five-time DownBeat Critics' Poll winner, including the top spot in this year's Rising Star Big Band category, Argue recorded his next release with his own group, Secret Society, in June. That record, which documents the complete original score of Brooklyn Babylon, his multimedia collaboration with graphic artist Danijel Zezelj, is scheduled for a Spring 2013 release.

Upon his return to the States, Argue will rejoin Secret Society for performances on the Newport Jazz Festival's main stage on August 4th, and at World Financial Plaza in New York (with special guest Tim Hagans) as part of the Ecstatic Summer series on August 25th.
