The Barcelona Jazz Orchestra is performing in a concert within the celebration of the Year Montsalvatge that will feature three jazz legends: Frank Wess, Phil Woods and Jon Faddis.

On November 19th the Barcelona Jazz Orchestra will perform at the Lincoln Center in Nova York within the celebrations of this Catalan composer’s Centennial.

La Barcelona Jazz Orchestra wants to make a tribute to this famous composer of beginning of the XX Century with a concert based upon some of the most representative of his repertoire, such as Cançons Negres (Black Songs) or some other pieces, such as the Barcelona Blues, that will also give the title to the concert

These pieces have been arranged by one of the best arrangers from our latitudes: Sergi Vergés.

In the second part of the concert, the Barcelona Jazz Orchestra will take to the scene some of the themes that he recorded with Phil Woods in his latest cd My Man Benny, a tribute to Benny Carter. Besides, for the first time we will be able to hear some of the tunes devoted to Dizzy Gillespie that were recorded with Jon Faddis and will soon be recorded.

Besides, the Barcelona Jazz Orchestra has invited Frank Wess, a jazz living myth, with whom the Barcelona Big Band has performed in several occasions in the past.

This concert will be memorable for the fact that will combine Catalan music together with some of the best jazz American musicians of our days.
