    Getting back to jazz

It's funny the journey that life takes you. Raising kids to adulthood, organising yourself and family all conspired to make me lose the joy of music. Sure there were moments when I got he opportunity to see someone I loved play or when a particularly sublime cd came out and I could just chill but too many times life interrupted. Then I bought a cheap 4 cd set of bud Powell ...nothing new on it ... In fact the only new thing was they were CDs ...I'd had the vinyl since I was a kid ...and I put it in the car ...and thought nothing more until I slipped in the amazing bud Powell while I was in traffic....and brothers and sisters I seized by the power of bop. In that moment all that was great about jazz came back . Next I put on bird. Bird bought me to jazz when I was 13 and bird made me think of this place and the people I knew here, how they are, and what hey were up to....nd so I came back in for a look and saw the sad news about jmj and that has reminded me of life's short journey. I also noticed many of the usual suspects here ( hi guys) and a number of newer cats(hi as well) so I guess I'll catch up on some good recs, and some bull and some wit and sometimes the half of that. Catch me up if ya want

I have a similar story. But, the thing that brought me back was actually some of the new cats. In particular Fredrik Kronkvist. But also Vijay Iyer and Brad Mehldau. Kronkvist, in particular, reminded me why I fell in love with Jazz to begin with.

Nice to see you posting here again, Henry!

Thankfully, I never lost the joy of playing or listening to music.
