    Giant Sand

    yes

more than ever along with Don' creation, Howe's band is all that rock music IS

    saw them once at Maxwells

    an epiphany

if THIS band was recognized for what they were (and they wern't) I knew rock music as a viable artistic AND commercial form was dead

    that was ten years ago

    the recordings legitimize my beliefs

    listen to RAMP once

    know magic music

    Watm Storm, baby

and as a non-kowing no jazz fan at the time, I asked Howe late that night what it was not being appreciated for what he was......

he said that "It is what it is"

little did I know that Peter Brotzmann, Gerry Hemingway, Anthony Braxton, Evan Parker and John Law were already existing in even more extreme circumstances and somehow loving some or all of it

There are an awful lot of artists who aren't appreciated for what they truly are. I'm glad that anyone has an audience, even a small one.
