multiple disc players
So, uh, I was talking to a friend of mine, a big CD collector. He does not use a multiple disc player because he feels that a single player will make him listen to more CD's.
You know, you come home and turn on the 5 cd changer and listen to whatever is in there, whereas the single disc you will need to change more ofter.
Thoughts?

I have a lot of CDs, buy a lot of CDs and have a 5-CD player. I can't imagine that I could possibly listen to any more CDs that I do now if I had a single-CD player. When I pull out a 2 or 3 CDs that I haven't listened to in a while, I usually want to listen to each of them more than once, so I much prefer the conveniece of the multi-disc player.

I've never had a multiple CD player. I rarely have a chance to listen to more than one CD at a time so it makes no difference to me. In fact I rarely have a chance to listen to an entire CD in one sitting.

I have a 200-CD changer, and it never stopped me from buying tons of music.
Lack of money, however...

I made a point and went to great lengths to buy a combination 5 disc cartridge player that also had a seperate single cd drawer. I used the 5 disc cartridge once in the twelve years that I've owned it............

I use my 6 disc changer all the time. I might throw in a whole Mosaic set, grab 6 of my favorite guitarists, 6 discs by the same artist - whatever. I just hit random and listen all night.
Of course I listen to discs start to finish as well. Just like the flexibility taht the multi-disc changer gives me. Excellent for parties as well.

I have both a Pioneer 6 CD cartridge type and an Aiwa portable single disk player. I find that the newer Aiwa, with a wireless remote control gets used more than the Pioneer simply because of the remote control.
Also the Aiwa plays CD-RW disks which were not out when the Pioneer was designed, but this is of less importance.

Enjoy it - You only get 1
I have never bought a multi-disc unit because I've always felt that the manufacturer puts less money into the playback mechanism to keep the list price down. Basically, multi-disc units cost about the same as a higher-end single disc unit. I'd rather have my money buying me better playback quality than multi-disc capability.
Besides, my latest player, a Pioneer Elite DV-45A, plays mp3 discs. If I get into a "party situation" now, I just pop in one of those... 10 hours later. :>)
Later,
Kevin

Well, my multi-disc unit died (well, sort of: the tray won't slide back into the unit; it might be repairable, but I don't know if it's worth trying) and I've had to switch to my backup, a 15 year old + single disc Fisher unit. WIth a single unit, it's easier to remember what's in the changer. But I still manage to get loose discs and cases that don't match each other!
