Robt. Pete Williams
Can someone tell me which recordings were actually made at Angola Prison and/or where I can find them? Thanks.

Not really. . .I play at a few prisons and was talking with a bloke about some of Williams' recordings I had heard as a child replete with cicadas, wind, and some chatter involved. I presume this was the field recording from the prison.

Michael, if my memory serves, pretty much all of the stuff that Dr. Harry Oster recorded by Robert Pete was done at Angola. It’s available on cd on two volumes under Robert Pete’s name: I’M BLUE AS A MAN CAN BE and WHEN A MAN TAKES TO THE BLUES. And there are also tracks on three comps: ANGOLA PRISONERS’ BLUES, ANGOLA PRISON SPIRITUALS and ANGOLA PRISON WORK SONGS. All are on Arhoolie Records.

Fat Possum didn't release anything? Or is that all 70's material?

Welcome, Michael. That stuff is the real deal.
Al, I think the FP is from 70’. Didn’t you review it somewhere? AAJ?
