Does anyone know when the new Mark Helias' Open Loose CD is coming out? Caught them live a few months back and he mentioned it would be out later this year, but no word since then.

Ok, it's not new and it's Jazz Rock, but it's an all time classic and it's finally being released on Cd.

Julian Priester's (Pepo Mtoto) "Love, Love"

The Cd is scheduled for release August 30, 2005.

Here's a shot of the original back cover (check out the lineup)

If you liked the Herbie Hancock Mwandishi recordings or the early Eddie Henderson recordings (Realization, Inside Out), you'll love this.

Thank you ECM for digging this classic out of the vaults.

    Tin Hat

At last, news from Tin Hat (Trio).

Their website has just been updated with tourdates and the announcement of the recording of a new CD "dedicated to the art and writings of Bruno Schulz".
The recording is scheduled for January 2006...

    I look forward to

It's just out on this side of the ocean and I have ordered it.

Parish is coming out on ECM in around the September 1.

There are a few others, too. I'll recognize them when they're here, even if I can't recall them now. If you give me some help, that is.

Do you know if the LSB Crazy Wisdom album (Walk, Stop, Look and Walk) is also OOP, and if it will also be reissued? I can't find it anywhere...

Cool. So how many years until another Berne studio recording, I wonder?

    "She Knows" is pretty great.

And I believe The Thing w/ Joe McPhee are touring the US in November!

A review made me change my mind about Strønen/Parish on ECM. For now.
But Parish/Rica (Challenge) is probably still new to you. Stønen, Stenson, Eilertsen, Ljungkvist in a live concert.

Did you hear them on BBC Radio 3's Jazz on 3 programme about a month back. They played a short set, about 20 minutes, and failed to impress these ears. I guess I was expecting something a bit more 'out there' and it seemed pretty straight ahead and unexciting to me.

    Jelly Roll Morton.

In September, I believe the 26th, Rounder is putting out the boxed set of the Jelly Roll Smithsonian series in a boxed set.

    For Ken Vandermark fans:
The new Vandermark Five double CD
    http://www.atavistic.com/artist.cfm?ThisArtist=109

Also according to http://www.paalnilssen-love.com/news.php Territory Band 4 are on tour in October which presumably means the album (which was recorded a few months back) will be coming out soon. The Okka Disc website isn't very helpful though.

    The Kenny Barron Trio:

The Perfect Set - Live at Bradley's II !!!!!!!

I am waiting and not very patient. Counting the days, minutes, hours...just counting!!! Sunnyside Records seems to be releasing this one on September 27 - same day as the Monk/Coltrane Carnegie Hall recording. By the way, you can listen to/download a full tune from this not-yet-released recording if you go to jazztimes.com. A nice feature, as I was able to transfer to my iPOD!

They were playing this at Fnac this weekend and the two minutes or so I caught were very good and in certainly in decent sound - though I'm also content with the sound on Discovery!,so beware (I do not have this material, if it was previously available as a boot, so will most likely pick this up).
