    Dick Shreve - R.I.P.

As little as I want to do this, I feel that I should pass on the sad news that Dick Shreve, an excellent LA jazz pianist and accompanist for many fine singers over the years ( including Sue Raney, Andy Williams, Tierney Sutton as well as a host of others ) as well as a long time personal friend of mine , passed away yesterday after a long fight with throat cancer.

In addition to his wonderful pianistic talent, he will be remembered by his may friends for his very sharp ( if somewhat prurient ) witty songs that some of you all may have heard over the years ..

RIP: Durwood .. you will be missed ..

Before I'm accused of thinking lightly of Dick Shreve, I want to add that I am extremely saddened by this news, gp. I did not know the man well at all, but I always thought he was a fine accompanist and a guy with a wonderful sense of humor. Sorry you lost such a good friend, and sorry for the rest of us, you included, that the world is lesser than it was before he left it.
