This is the best I can come with (19.6 ko). I was obliged to change the animation a little though. You're judge.

    Jaka--

    Re the version in #121:

I just tried to put that one up as an avatar, and it's still too big to be used.

    1. It's still over 20,000 bytes, when expressed that way. It's 20,089 bytes. I'm getting that figure by right-clicking on the attachment (in IE) and looking at Properties.

    2. You say it's 19.6 KB, but the maximum allowable size when expressed that way is actually 19.5 KB. Trust me.

    3. As you can see from 1. and 2., it could be that the real maximum allowable size, when expressed in bytes, is 19,500 bytes.

So it's up to you whether you want to try to get it smaller still.

Oh no!! You ripped the heart out of it!!!

It took me a while to figure out what you'd done. You've taken out a load of the typing animation between the end and the beginning (If you catch my meaning), but all in all I couldn't see the difference. It's just a pit of a bisser that it's still slightly too large.

Personally I think Lois should up the anti out of deference to the fact that my poor old avatar has to travel across the channel every time I use it.

If you look at the crisper outline on the figure and the detail on the mic stand, you'll see what I mean. It's minor, though.

    I'd delete the attachment.
Actually...I just clicked on the smaller image Jaka posted and used it. But I used your/Blue's instructions

    It worked!

    Bluenoter,
    thanks for the precise insight.
19 371 bytes is the best I could do.

    Deke,
Hope it works this time. My reputation is at stake.

I removed the attachments on previous posts, to avoid confusion and save bandwidth.

    Jaka and Deke--

Jaka did it! I tested the version in #125 by putting it up as an avatar myself, and it worked fine. Thanks for persisting, Jaka, and thanks for deleting the older versions to conserve Lois's bandwidth.

Deke, the version in #125 really, truly is small enough to be legal as an avatar. If you want to use it as an avatar now or think you might want to use it later, please Save it to your computer. And please let us know when you've Saved it so we can get rid of other Saved copies.

I think I just might have a new avatar! (I guess I'll find out after I post this...) It's also saved to my HD just in case, so you can all delete your unwanted copies now. Thanks! Now at last people will be able to see what a wild and whacky guy I really am...

I searched for this little guy, which I'd seen before,

and I found so many dancing pepper .gifs that I couldn't keep track of them all. What is it about dancing peppers? A couple of pages where they can be found
are . . . My heavens, look at the time! And so to bed.

(Seriously, if you want to see some of them, I'll find them again tomorrow.)

It may not be entirely unconnected with an ad campaign that runs intermittently over here, for Pepperoni ("It's a bit of an animal").

Keep these URLs handy and you'll be worthy! You could have also gotten them by right-clicking on the images and then clicking on Properties, as I know that you know.

    Oh sure.

With my feeble mind, I'll remember that.

Goody, just do the same thing you always do when you post images. They're just images, and I know that you know that.
