The stage was set. I had gone down to the pantry with a Baggie, filling it with a handful of Persian Fairy Floss (as pashmak's also known) and putting it my pants pocket for easy access. Ate dinner with Linda. When she finished her main meal, she got up and went to the kitchen to get a mango. Nanook, ever mindful of the possibility of a food handout, tagged along, standing patiently behind her as she prepared her fruit. I ambled over, having discreetly palmed a hank of pashmak. "Did you ever taste Nookie's fur?" I asked. Linda, distracted while slicing the mango, goes, "What?" and half-turns around. "Nookie's fur," I say, "It's really good." I reach down, pull an apparent tuft and munch.
Linda gives me a priceless look. "What the hell's wrong with you?! What are you doing?!" She seriously thought I'd lost it. I actually managed to keep a straight face for about 15 seconds....Excellent.
Later, she said she was so shocked, she couldn't even think to yell, "Stop!"
Ah, such things make life worth living!

It turned out that I only used four slices. Not wanting to return the bacon to the freezer or let it go bad, I cooked the remaining slices yesterday. There had to be at least 3/4 of a pound divided equally between two sandwiches with some romaine lettuce, thick sliced tomatoes , mayo and freshly ground black pepper. The bread was toasted tomato/basil bread from Panera Bread. The photo below is only a weak representation. You would not believe the real thing. And yes, I ate both of 'em.

sounds gud.
I only eat bacon when I cook it for the grease. Gotta have bacon grease in red beans that go wit da rice.
Those BLT's sound tasty.
Panera in Glastonbury was a gud spot.

A post by one p-coli over at I Hate Music:
Great post - getting hungry looking at some of the delicacies listed.
I'm kind of fortunate to live in a pretty provincial part of Japan with excellent seafood options. Fugu, or pufferfish (blowfish, whatever) is the specialty; it's okay. I tried fugu sperm for the first time recently, that was good. Expensive though! The "regular" fish sperm (shirako) you can get is cod I think, but apparently it's not as good as the fugu.
My town is also the center of the whaling industry in Japan. I'm not a big fan of whale meat but was once served up raw whale penis at a local sushi place. Not knowing what it was, I ate and enjoyed it.
We get excellent uni and namako (sea slug) around here too, not too expensive. And some good live seafood options at various restaurants. A few months ago we got served up a squid that was still glowing and flashing - the center had been sliced up as sashimi, but the rest was still intact, and alive. Once you finish of the sashimi, they whisk away the body and deep fry it. Yum! Speaking of squid, ika natto is good stuff - raw squid, natto, and raw egg all mixed together with wasabi and other seasonings.
Then there's basashi - raw horse meat. Thinly sliced, served with a dipping sauce, and shredded ginger - sublime! Though a friend and I once ordered the wrong stuff at a local izakaya, we thought we were getting basashi, but instead were served up slices of pure fat from the horse's neck. Melted in the mouth, but $50 for six very small slivers of lard was a little excessive.
Anyone want some whale curry or stew? Let me know and I can arrange to send some over for you.

Gee, thanks for asking, p-coli, but I can get some yummy stinkfish and Spotted Seal flipper sashimi when I get home next week. And, with any luck, some Puffin sperm, too.
