Listening to your program right now - currently hearing the 4th version of
of "Baby It's Cold Outside" - very fun - you rock!
I have a social engagement I wish I could cancel so I could hear
more of the program!
If not too difficult, I'd love to see the playlist.
I told a bunch of people about the program though, so I hope some
were able to tune in as it's really a fun concept and I'm sure
lovin' the part I'm getting to hear.
Aww - you're giving a thankful plug to folks on Speakeasy RIGHT now -
what a classy guy you are. It's wild and fun to hear people named -
almost like making fictional characters I only read about through
the boards online becoming real.
Sorry my submissions came too late to be of any use ;-).
Off to listen to more of your show (currently playing some Sheila and Mark).
All Best - you rock!
Nich

Hello. I just visited for the first time after a long search for my fav Jazz duet; perhaps you can help me. I no longer have my fav duet. It was on a cassette that I lent to an idiot who recorded over it. I know most of the lyrics and the chords and melody; I can play it and sing it but I can't find it anywhere. It might be from a film musical and it is a 'Girl, boy' duet. The male singer sounds like Louis Armstrong; not sure about the Girl. Anyway, here are the lyrics I know...
Stay, you've grown so dear to me, near to me,
and it would grieve me, if you should say goodbye.
My life was tragic, until your magic, turned all the bitter to sweet, yeah!
I was so lonely, my one and only, I lay my arms at your feet.
Won't you stay? you've grown so dear to me, near to me,
and it would ????? me, if you will only stay.
I recorded this duet from, Peter Clayton, BBC RADIO 3 JAZZ or possibly, Hubert Greg on BBC radio 2's 'Thanks for the Memory. Trouble is, they brought their own private 78 collections to the studio and , took them home again. Now they have passed away I can't ask them personally, but such a great song and performance must be famous among enthusiasts and historians. I pray that you think i'm stupid for not knowing the performers or song title; I hope I'm lucky lucky lucky this time. Whilst I'm here... Annette Hanshaw singing, When I am Housekeeping for you; also can't find that one. I've just joined so, 'Hello to you'; hope your expert advice will put me out of my misery; been searching for ten years

Just thouht I'd mention; have many songs on a site called, 'noisehead' user/artist name, PQR1. Just recently added some old scraps of Jazz Classic style compositions; just noticed that I'm number one with a soft jazz vocal tune (how did I get to the top of those charts?) still, it's all fun, which I stress, being that I find my own voice funny, but a song never heard is, I suppose, rare these days. There are only a few jazz classic style songs by me; the rest is very experimental; not to most peoples taste, but, it's a journey, and there are more to come. PQR1 aka, Greedy Lugs

You can download three different versions of her singing that song (tracks 8, 13, and 15)---or download the whole album---here (scroll down). That's on MP3. Or you can buy the CD on the same page (or elsewhere, I'm sure).

Annette Hanshaw
Vol. 7: 1929-1930
Label: Sensation
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
She also sings that song on this album, track 1:

Annette Hanshaw
I've Got A Feeling I'm Falling
Label: Sounds of Yesteryear
You can buy that CD here.

Wow, that was fast. Got many many songs by Annette; she's 'very lovable, and oh so sweet'. Thankyou so much for the reply. any joy with that jazz duet? I can't imagine anyone who heard that duet ever forgetting it. It's sad that they are nolonger with us but it really hurts when we can't hear them again. Thankyou again for the info; I'm a little less hungry for knowing.

Sorry; I didn't have any luck in Googling the "stay" duet. Maybe someone else will know of the song.
And re #74: It's fine to give us a link to that webpage if you want to.

Your posts #73 and #75 are dups. Can you click on Edit at the bottom of #75 and then follow the instructions and delete it? If not, don't worry about it.

Thankyou for getting back to me. It's a mystery how noone on the planet seems to know that vocal duet 'Stay' which is most likely not the title (doesn't it drive you mad when they have a title that is probably not taken from any of the lyrics in the song?) Oh brother, if you never heard that song before you are in for a rare treat when you do, and by the looks of it, the whole world will be happy to hear it. That web link; a great suprise that I wasl number one there, as most of the time a track only stays there for a very short time as there are a few bad types who love to give bad ratings to artists they don't like the style of, to get themselves up the charts. but especially a little rough recording of a bloke singing with a guitar. There are some great Jazz musicians on the noisehead site. I'm sure they would go down well in this community. Thanks again, just got several bad ratings from the nasty ones, nolonger number one, but I'm used to it, one minute you are up and then...PQR1

Thanks for fixing the dup. Check this thread now and then, even weeks later, because someone who knows of the song may eventually read your post.
I saw your edited lyrics, but I still had no luck in Googling the song.

Thanks, and I will check now and then. I spent a whole day on lyric sites a year ago and had no luck. Perhaps that BBC anouncer had the only copy, but it might be from a movie. I don't like all this political correctness removing our history. I'm depending on a united musical world on line backing up everything. Thanks again for trying

Joe Williams & Ella Fitzgerald on "Everyday I Have the Blues".
Also the duet of Brazilian singers Dick Farney & Lucio Alves on "Teresa da Praia". Although few people know them, this recording is a classic in the Brazilian music.
