The Jazz Foundation of America's 4th Annual A Great Night in Harlem Concert
to benefit its Jazz Musicians' Emergency Fund

The magnificent Quincy Jones will speak on behalf of the Jazz Foundation, making many people across the country aware of the problems that so many musicians are facing.

Performances include:
A TRIBUTE TO RAY CHARLES by Chris Thomas King
and the Chico O'Farrill Afro-Cuban Jazz Orchestra directed by Arturo O'Farrill, and Kenny Barron and Regina Carter, James Blood Ulmer with tap dancer, Derek Grant, the Harlem Jazz & Blues All Stars with guest Clark Terry,actor Danny Aiello,singing "One For The Road", and other great artists.
A DVD is available of the entire
2004 "A Great Night In Harlem" concert.
Donate $100 or more and
receive the 2 1/2 hour DVD.

Due to time constraints, the entire two and a half hour concert could not be included. Over 55 performers came out that night. Some that can only be seen on our DVD were by Johnnie Mae Dunson,the 83 yr. old blues Queen from Chicago who wrote tunes for Jimmy Reed and Muddy Waters.That night, she sang "EVIL" (the tune she wrote for Muddy,) and the Last of the Red Hot Mamas; Sweet Georgia Brown, who tore the roof off the Apollo that night. So spread the word about a great cause that benefits so many great musicians.

The need is great. Many elderly jazz musicians are living alone without the support of family. As seniors they are unable to work the same vigorous pace or are ill from untreated diseases having had no health insurance for many years.Therefore successful, professional musicians are finding themselves destitute. This is where JFA comes in and provides essential support.We arrange free medical care through our partnership with Englewood Hospital and Medical Center's Dizzy Gillespie Memorial Fund and our pro bono network of physicians across America. JFA assists by staving off evictions, preventing homelessness, paying rent arrears, providing emergency living expenses, repairing instruments, offering substance abuse counseling, advocacy work and career counseling. For all these musicians gave us and sacrificed for the music, now is your chance to give back at a time in life when they have no one and need us so much.
