Jazz and Blues?
I was wondering how many people who love Jazz also listen to Blues? The local radio station here in the Ann Arbor area has a wonderful Jazz and Blues format and I am really wanting to learn more about Blues as I learn about Jazz. Would anyone know of any good bulletin boards like this one for Blues?

Yes, a lot of people here like blues. It sort of goes with the jazz territory.
I recommend this blues BBS: http://blindman.forumhoster.com/

What John said. As someone once said, "The Blues is the truth. And if it ain't the truth, it ain't jazz." Be warned: This is an inflammatory statement for some jazz fans. Management makes no warranty expressed or implied concerning the use of this little homily in conversation at JazzCorner.

You're very fortunate to have such a local radio station. Ain't but five or six Americans left who can say such!

The moldiest of all figs
Count me among the listeners of the blues, especially the old guys like Lightning Hopkins, Sonny and Brownie and the great Charles Brown.
Bright moments - right now!

is the station WEMU (or KEMU) ? if so, i listen to it frequently over the net and agree that it's terrific. They have a good net feed, btw, so anyone with broadband can listen and enjoy. I don't know how it sounds over dial up.

Yes it is WEMU!!! They are a FANTASTIC radio station. Your right I am very lucky! And they totally support blues and jazz music in the area too! My favorite program is Jazz with Michael Jewett. His program has a great mix of blues and jazz. My only problem is trying to track down CD's once I hear something I like on the radio.

Reevaluating @ 500k
I got into blues & jazz at about the same time, starting around 1970, when I was 14. The blues journey started as a result of the blues-oriented rock I was into--Mayall, Johnny Winter, early Fleetwood Mac--inspiring me to explore the roots.
I realized something very interesting recently. I gave my 13-year-old god(less)son a Led Zeppelin DVD for his birthday, because he's really into them. And I realized that that music is as old now as were the Robert Johnson recordings I started listening to when Zeppelin was fairly new. The Johnson recordings seemed to me like ancient artifacts.
