Ruby Johnson -- I'll Run Your Hurt Away (Wow! Heavy-duty belter! How does a voice like that get overlooked for decades? Still sings in her synagogue in Virginia. )

Teddy Wilson 1935-1936 (Not sure why Billie and Ella aren't mentioned on the cover, too.)

Nick Drake -- Bryter Layter

Pete (LaRoca) Sims -- Swingtime

Eric Moe -- Kicking and Screaming

Duke Ellington -- Ellington Uptown (some odd material on here)

Bix Beiderbeke -- Singin' The Blues

Temptations -- Psychedelic Shack/ All Directions/ Ultimate Collection

Jehovah -- Zubi Zuva

Bach -- Well Tempered Clavier (4 CDs, Jando)

Charles Brown -- Driftin' Blues (Get yourself another fool!)

John Abercrombie Quartet
Wait Till You See Her

John Abercrombie guitar
Mark Feldman violin
Thomas Morgan double-bass
Joey Baron drums

I've been listening a lot to Abercrombie's sampler :rarum lately.

This Quartet would of course have been included, too, if it wasn't brand new.

Still Timeless.

Yes indeed! As Jewish as The Flamingos. You have to read the liner notes. Quick version, her great-great-grandparents were Black Jews, and their descendants, she's a member of Temple Beth-El, "a century-old, predominantly African-American Jewish denomination headquartered in Suffolk, Virginia" leaning more "toward the orthodox... conservative in our dress... We have a special uniform that all our members wear into the temple."

You're right. Your correction is correct. Still, this is not writing - I'm just talking and producing sounds.

You're telling me i should've sprung for the damn headset aren't you? How much good stuff, witty repartee and sly banter (not to mention boisterous singalongs, and the full range of zoo sounds which i believe certain posters are capable of) am i missing out on?
Sigh...
I shall take Adolph's advice to Friedrich and depart this vale of tears forthwith...

Meh! Where's the Derek Bailey and Evan Parker and John Stevens etc.?
Not saying there isn't some good stuff on that list, but there's also a lot of other stuff, if you catch my drift...

I did not expect anything else in a supplement to "a user's guide to the golden age of UK post-bop and elastic rock 1964–76,"

Cheers for clearing that up Uli! All is now clear. For what it is then, it's a pretty decent list. At least they've got John McLaughlin in there with Extrapolation, which is accessible to all, and a true gateway drug into jazz for the rockers i imagine.

Currently giving a whirl to the following mad raves;
Miles Davis - Live in Manchester, great music, but the sound quality is only a bit better than a good boot.
Miroslav Vitous - Universal Syncopations, a true modern classic
