Questionable legality. No money for the artists.

Well that's what they said - 107,000 members. I don't see how that works but there y'go. Hope it makes you appreciate the site and the wonderful opportunity it affords you even more...

Artists are put on NAB list if wish to restrict downloads. John Scofield & Ellery Eskelin are a few examples. these are recordings which are not released commercially, and are recorded by attendees. It's beyond me, but many of them are clean, transparent recordings with great dynamics. Some of the artists actually record the shows and approve the free downloads. Frankly, I believe it gives the artist much needed exposure. I've been turned onto many players on this site that i would never experience otherwise. In turn, it often motivates me to buy their product.

Those would generally be broadcast or soundboard recordings. I almost never dl audience recordings unless it's a particularly compelling lineup otherwise undocumented. I'm more interested in the DVDs, mostly from European satellite broadcasts.

some so-called audience tapes are downright awesome (clean & transparent). But you're right, the best ones are normally soundboards & FM broadcasts. The best quality recordings come from Europe (by far).

Actually, I've never checked out Zawinul's stuff post Weather Report. If you're recommending that one, then that's good enough for me - i'll check it out. Any other good stuff i should check out of his post-WR stuff?

Yes, I like the album a lot. TCH is the ep and both have the track Dayvan cowboy. I also like Everything you do is a Baloon from the Hi Scores ep.

Keith Rowe/Sachiko M/Toshimaru Nakamura/Otomo Yoshihide

Both superb!

Cool link man, Cheers!
Sibanye is the business right enough. It inspired me to dig out Smoke by von Schlippenbach and Sunny Murray, another great one.
