Why? If a ballplayer is so stupid as to still be using during this inquisition period, he should be banned for being retartded.

Because the reality, I am almost certain, is that many players are still on steroids. Some are better at getting around the tests than others. Sanchez is a marginal player, so he's going to be laughed at more than anything else. Since I don't have any problem with steroid use in general, I really feel sorry for anyone who gets caught, actually. I certainly feel bad for Jason Giambi and Barry Bonds.

The other thing is that these tests carry a very real possibility of a false positive, which is a nuance that gets lost in the public outcry.

Absolutely bizarre: the "green board" ads behind home plate can apparently be used on the local feed. Hence the completely surreal site of an ad for Jordan's Furniture (local chain) behind the hitters in Yankee Stadium.
The Yankees really cleaned Johnson up nice, didn't they? And Bellhorn doesn't look nearly as stoned in April as he does at the end of the season.
Jay Payton plates David Ortiz with the first run of the new season.

Some of Sanchez' bunt singles last year wouldn't have gotten beyond the home plate dirt if it wasn't for those steroids.

On beyond furniture: on the local feed, "virtual" Mass Lottery ads now showing behind home plate in the House that Ruth built. Nice.
Ah, good thing it's a long season.

Anthony and I are off for U.S. Comiskular in about an hour and a half. Buehrle vs. Westbrook. The Federales will be out in the usual force of 20. Badges, we don't need no stinkin' badges!

Nice. Twenty Opening Day tickets in Boston would run you half a million dollars.
Say hello to El Duque for me, Chris. Somehow I landed him for my roto team this year.

I'm struggling with a response to you (feeling bad)....
Put it this way, whether or not you are pro/con steroid use; If there's a narc in the kitchen, you don't spark a spleef in the living room.

Bonderman pitched great today. Between Johan Santana and Bonderman, my Loose Cannons are looking pretty good.

Braden Looper gives up a leadoff single in the ninth, and then back-to-back jacks to blow Pedro's first game as a Met.
Larry! Give Ilitch a call and tell him he's got a buyer for Urbina!

38 minor league baseball players have been suspended for violating the steroid policy.
Here's the complete list.
A few ex-major leaguers in there...Damian Moss, Robert Machado, Francisco Cordova...

Well, then don't come around here no more.
Fabulous day at the ballyard, although we were right next to the park half an hour before game time and didn't get to our seats until the bottom of the second. We were literally next to the bus parking lot when the F-16s flew over and the scoreboard went off. "Park right here!" said Anthony. Um, buddy, we'd have no car left.
We did wind up parking on the street at 37th and State. A little roll of the dice, being on that side of the Dan Ryan, but it was a day game. Turned out OK, and I saved 20 bucks.
Buerhle was masterful! Twice he needed double plays: One he got on a first pitch, and a big one was getting Victor Martinez to go 5-4-3 with runners on first and second. Only run scores on a Jhonny Perralta boot. Nice job, kid!
Westbrook was great; Mark B. was better.
I thought Ozzie erred bringing in Shingo when Buehrle had only given up the two hits and one walk. 1-2-3, though, including a strikeout on a 50-mph change that looked like a beach ball floating up there.
Anthony was an absolute champ for a 5-year-old at his first opener. Ate a whole dog; learned how to shell his own peanuts. It helped that it was a Buehrle game over in 2 hours flat. (Actually an hour adn 51!)

Awesome, Chris!
Time-consuming concessions are the key when taking small fry to the ballpark. My oldest had been asking for about as long as she could say "Red Sox", and I took her to a game in late 2002, just after she turned 4. I put her to work on a bag of pistachios and then a frozen lemonade ice - both of those kept her busy until the fifth inning, and we toughed it out after that: it helped that I had sung her "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" almost every night of her life, so she wanted to stick around for that.
Also: game times around meals work great. The Sox have had a few 5:05 Saturday starts sprinkled throughout the year, so we try to score a couple of those games. Hot dogs for dinner (or here if it's cold enough, clam chowder!) Kids will last through the end of the game, and don't miss bedtime by too much.
