My watch just spontaneously exploded.
I'm sitting here reading the Post and there is a loud pop. I look down, and the glass of my watch has just exploded. The glass is pushing out, so there must have been pressure inside. My question is "what the fuck?"

(1) Was it a Movado?
(2) Have you spoken ill of Wynton Marsalis?

Oh THAT. That is what happens when you become too republican. Your watch spontaneously explodes. Happens all the time, especially in Virginia.

It's a Hamilton Linwood. And I never talk about jazz.
And shut up, Sonic.
Do I need an exorcist?

It's a sign. The papacy is calling you...
which means you will have to give up your police commissioner position. I mean you can't do both, can you?

Oh Tippz, you're so transparent.
You lost. It was a fair vote.
Get over it and move on. Don't let it consume you.

Dumb Ass, my post reflects my respect for the referendum. I'm just saying that Monte can't be expected to fill both roles and I think it would be far more interesting to see him as pope.

Right, so you can weasel your way into a position you failed to win a popular vote for, but that you lust after so mightily.
And there is no referendum. You're just tossing a raw steak out the window trying to divert Monte's attention long enough for you to enact your evil scheme.

And the most unfortunate part of this whole charade is that Monte doesn't know what time it is.

Sorry about your wristwatch exploding. Be grateful it wasn't your wrist.

OK, I haven't.

Excellent question, Pete C. Thank goodness someone is taking my alarm seriously. I was reading Dana Milbank's Washington Sketch column about Wednesday's House Armed Services Committee hearings where Richard Perle and Wesley Clark testified. I don't think it caused me enough inner turmoil so that my wristwatch exploded, but how else do you explain it? (One option I refuse to rule out is satellite microwaves).

Uli, this Hamilton is a Swiss watch. They used to be an American company, but they have been Swiss-owned and manufactured for a good while now.

Clint, thank you for your concern about my actual wrist. I'll be damned, though. I hear this pop, and the first thing I think is, "Did that small explosion take place inside or outside of my head?" Outside, as it turns out. Unless there were two simultaneous explosions, the one covering the other up. But I'm worrying this thing to death.

In Helter Skelter, Charles Manson apparently caused prosecutor Vincent Bugliosi's watch to suddenly stop.
Not that you should worry or anything.

Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?
As I was walking down the street one day
A man came up to me and asked me what the time was that was on my watch, yeah
And I said
Does anybody really know what time it is
Does anybody really care
If so I can’t imagine why
We’ve all got time enough to cry
And I was walking down the street one day
A pretty lady looked at me and said her diamond watch had stopped cold dead
And I said
Does anybody really know what time it is
Does anybody really care
If so I can’t imagine why
We’ve all got time enough to cry
And I was walking down the street one day
Being pushed and shoved by people trying to beat the clock, oh, no I just don’t know
I don’t know
And I said, yes I said
Background:
People runnin’ everywhere
Don’t know where to go
Don’t know where I am
Can’t see past the next step
Don’t have time to think past the last mile
Have no time to look around
Just run around, run around and think why
Does anybody really know what time it is
Does anybody really care
If so I can’t imagine why
We’ve all got time enough to die
